About

1:1 dog behaviour specialist

In November 2023, I was pleased to graduate from University with a BSc. (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management.   Using the skills, knowledge and understanding I gained, Derby Dog Behaviour was born. My desire is to help improve the behaviour of dogs who are struggling in today’s hectic world.

In my experience, dog behaviour is often linked with the dog’s internal, emotional state.  Anyone can immediately see that happy, secure dogs, behave very differently to those experiencing pain, fear or vulnerability.

However, some dogs are just not able to cope with group classes and need individual attention.  Some dogs may appear to be aggressive or reactive, others may struggle when left on their own.  These are issues that don’t lend themselves to traditional group classes.

Despite what is presented on television, there are no quick fixes that are easy, kind and ethical.  Anyone who has made a New Year resolution knows that behaviour change takes time, effort and support.  Dogs don’t behave badly, they respond to breeding/DNA, a history of learning and their internal emotional / physical state.

I’m here to help you apply positive reward based training to make a positive change to your dog’s behaviour.

Reward Based Training

  • Reinforces desired behaviours in dogs through rewards such as treats, praise, toys, or activities.
  • Is backed by behavioural science and decades of research.
Strengthens the bond between you and your dog.
  • Is adaptable to any dog.
  • Is a humane, effective method for training dogs, promoting happiness, trust, and well-being.
